Snowfall will continue at varying intensities throughout the afternoon and night, As of 10:30 this morning, totals are in the 2"-5" range, and it still looks like 6"-10" will be common, with some localized higher amounts possible. Lake moisture is feeding into the system which makes counties bordering Lake Michigan most prone to the higher totals. An interesting thermal boundary is forming. It's 11 at Peoria and Springfield to our south, and 4 out in Quincy. We remain in the mid 20s. What's known as frontogentic forcing (due to the temp difference) may enhance the snowfall south of Chicago as well. Then, the winds will kick in later tonight into morning, blowing the snow around in open areas. A Blzzard Watch is up for parts of NW Indy to account for this. For all intents and purposes however, travel conditions will stink through mid-day tomorrow at least, even after the falling snow has ended. The storm is east bound, and will hammer DC, Philly and New York tonight and tomorrow. Many cities in that direction could threaten all-time seasonal snowfall records as a result of this Furious February, which has several more significant storms on the table already!
